Building Material Prices Increase While Other Input Prices Fall

In October 2024, prices for inputs for new residential construction saw a modest 0.2% decrease, marking a continuation of fluctuations in material costs. The NAHB reports that the goods component of this index, which makes up about 60% of the total, saw a 0.7% annual increase, largely driven by rising prices in building materials. Notable increases included ready-mix concrete, general millwork and paving mixtures/blocks.
