The Surprising U.S. Cities Young Homebuyers Are Flocking To–and Where They’re Fleeing

According to the Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service, Millennials and Gen Zers, aged 25 to 44, are moving to small towns in record numbers. Between 2014 and 2024, small towns and rural communities saw an increase in their population by 63%. As remote work provides geographic flexibility, younger generations are choosing to live in smaller communities due to the affordable housing options.
